"Those of us who love the arts, as I do, have a commitment to secure the future of our arts organizations and artists. The building of endowments is an excellent way of doing this."
– Dr. Murray Frum, Chair

Ontario Arts Foundation

The Foundation was established in 1991 under the Ontario Corporations Act as a not for profit corporation, with the purpose of encouraging and facilitating private giving to the arts in Ontario.  It is a non-government foundation and is a registered charity (Charitable registration number 89085 6370 RR0001).

The Foundation is distinct from the Ontario Arts Council, which administers public funding for Ontario artists and arts organizations. The Foundation, as a separate entity, complements the work of the Ontario Arts Council by providing a vehicle for private giving to the arts.

The Foundation holds over 275 endowments established by individuals, foundations, corporations and arts organizations.  With a staff of two and a board of 12, the Foundation has assets of over $47 million and disburses over $2.5 million in support of the arts in Ontario each year.
