"Those of us who love the arts, as I do, have a commitment to secure the future of our arts organizations and artists. The building of endowments is an excellent way of doing this."

Leafs Dreams Arts Scholarship Program

The Ontario Arts Foundation partners with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment for the Leafs Dreams Arts Scholarship Program.  The program provides scholarships in the arts to students who have a special ability and passion in the arts, but not the resources to pursue that interest.

The Foundation has the responsibility of applying for the lottery licences for the 50/50 draws held at each of the Toronto Maple Leafs regular season and playoff home games, and is responsible for ensuring that all the conditions of the licences are met.

Winners of the 50/50 draws receive half of the gross ticket sales.  The net amount, after deduction of allowable expenses, funds arts scholarships for students selected by representatives of schools in the Toronto District Schoolboard and the Toronto Catholic District Schoolboard.

A pilot program in 2002 saw 13 students enrolled in a broad range of arts pursuits.  Currently, 170 students are participating in the program.  They attend arts instruction programs all over Toronto, from the Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People, to the Art Gallery of Ontario, to the Glenn Gould School.
