The Ontario Arts Council (OAC) has hired filmmaker, curator and arts administrator Lisa Fitzgibbons as Francophone Arts Associate Officer on contract. Working with the Franco-Ontarian Arts Officer, Eric Dubeau, Lisa will manage assessment panels for several Franco-Ontarian Arts Office programs (Création littéraire; Chanson et musique; Avance médias; and Jets de théâtre) as well as work with OAC Officers to administer assessment panels of French-language applications to other granting programs (Chalmers, Compass, Touring and Collaborations etc.) She will also join Georgina Braoudakis, Francophone Support and Information Coordinator, in providing additional assistance to Francophone applicants.
“I am thrilled that someone of Lisa’s experience and depth of knowledge is working with us,” said John Brotman, OAC Executive Director. “Together, she, Georgina and Eric are a formidable team for our Francophone artists and arts organizations.”
Lisa Fitzgibbons was a board member of Sudbury’s Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario in the mid 1990s. From 1998 to 2003 she worked to establish L’Association des groupes en arts visuels francophones (AGAVF), a national arts service organization for Francophone visual arts groups outside of Québec. Lisa was vice-president – arts for the Fédération culturelle canadienne-française from 1999 to 2001. She is also a founding board member of the Bureau des regroupements des artistes visuels de l’Ontario (BRAVO). She sat on the sub-committee for the Status of the Artist with the Minister of Culture’s Advisory Council for Arts and Culture (MACAC). Lisa has been involved in many other activities through consulting, management positions, media work, and board memberships and has extensive knowledge of the Franco-Ontarian artistic community.
