QUOTES

"Receiving a Chalmers Arts Fellowship offered me the remarkable opportunity to conduct research on Aboriginal/colonial interactions at some very old, very prestigious galleries, libraries and museums across Western Europe. Because of their scope, the Chalmers Arts Fellowships are an unparalleled and important resource for arts professionals in any discipline."

- Mary Anne Barkhouse, visual artist, 2008 Chalmers Arts Fellowship recipient

“The Chalmers Fellowship has allowed me the freedom to explore a different form of theatre creation firsthand, and to travel to international festivals that are programming this kind of work.

I have been able to connect with an incredible range of artists and arts presenters and observe how various cities and performance groups approach traditional and installation theatre.

The final leg of the funding may take me in unexpected directions. To me, this is a wonderful element of the support – it is geared to the individual artist’s development, and fully supportive of whatever direction the artist has chosen to pursue.”

- David Oiye, theatre director, 2008 Chalmers Arts Fellowship recipient

“Receiving the Chalmers Arts Fellowship award has given me the time and money to reconnect and explore my craft. The development of the project itself was a learning experience that not only addressed my artistic needs but has rejuvenated and brought clarity to the many possibilities that exist through my art. I would truly encourage others to consider applying for a fellowship.”

- Vivine Scarlett, dancer and choreographer, 2008 Chalmers Arts Fellowship recipient
