The Ontario Arts Council (OAC) is moving up the date for its popular Artists in Education (AIE) program to November 15, 2005. There will no longer be a spring deadline for this program. This change will affect all artists who wish to receive OAC funding to work in Ontario’s school system in the 06/07 school year.
OAC hopes that this major deadline shift will allow more artists to provide important arts education experiences to Ontario students. The change will ensure that schools will have information about artists available to work with them when they make their funding and programming decisions in March for the following school year. This will include the list of artists (the AIE roster) funded for the 06/07 school year and the kinds of projects they want to undertake with students. As a result, we hope that more Ontario schools will be able to participate in the program. It should also decrease the amount of time artists spend searching for a partnering schools.

Reminder to applicant artists: Be sure to answer all of the questions in the guidelines including providing a separate attachment that answers the specific questions under Project Description in the guidelines. Successful applicants to the November 15 deadline for the AIE program will be notified in April 2006 but will have to undertake the project in the 06/07 school year and not in the current school year.
