Pre-Register Your Activity for Culture Days 2011
Pre-registration for this year's Culture Days is now open and runs to April 22, 2011.
If you pre-register, you will be included in the list of Culture Days participants announced at the national media launch in May. Declare your plans to participate in Culture Days 2011 (September 30 to October 2, 2011) to show your support for the movement.
Pre-registering is simple!
Culture Days offers a free, online, easy-to-use activity registration system. If you organized an activity last year, you will be able to log on using the same username and password.
Don’t worry, not all the details of your activity need to be confirmed at this early stage, you will be able to return to make changes and updates to your registered activity as your plans for Culture Days come together. By pre-registering, you’ll be declaring that you will be participating in Culture Days 2011!
When you register an activity, you also benefit from:
- Full access to customizable Culture Days campaign materials to help you plan and promote your activity, including a local marketing and PR tool kit
- An array of tips, tools and guides posted on the Culture Days website
- Support from local Culture Days participants and your regional representatives throughout the process of planning and promoting your Culture Days activity
What is Culture Days?
Culture Days is the largest public participation movement undertaken by the arts and culture community in Canada. Launched last September, Culture Days invites everyone to explore, discover and participate in arts and culture activities in every community across the country. The national media partners are the CBC, the Globe and Mail and St. Joseph Communications (publishers of Canadian Family, Fashion, Where Canada and Toronto Life magazines).
What can Culture Days in Ontario do?
- Spark people’s interest in the vibrant culture within Ontario communities
- Motivate Ontario residents to try a new artistic activity or visit a cultural attraction
- Encourage collaboration between arts and culture groups and other community partners
- Create a legacy of strong connections between all involved
- Encourage people to explore their own creativity
- Highlight Ontario’s culture to the rest of the country
Who can join? Everyone!
Individual artists of all artistic disciplines, diverse cultural groups, arts and heritage organizations of all types and sizes, urban, suburban and rural municipalities, band councils, Aboriginal and Métis communities, libraries, museums, parks and heritage sites, festivals, fairs, street celebrations, amateur and professional arts and culture associations, clubs, collectives and unions, public or private schools, universities and colleges (and more) are invited to come together to inspire greater public participation in arts and culture.
How do groups or individuals get involved?
- Identify an activity or activities, including those you may already be organizing, that you or your organization could offer to the public during Culture Days
- Ensure the activity will be free, open to the public and will provide an interactive or participatory experience
- Register your activity at www.culturedays.ca
- Subscribe to the national Culture Days newsletter for regular updates
- Read the Culture Days blog for more inspiration and ideas

Ontario Arts Council’s (OAC) involvement in Culture Days includes hiring
Nazanin Shoja as Ontario’s
Culture Days Animator/Coordinator for the next seven months. Working in partnership with
Aubrey Reeves, Culture Days Ontario Manager and the volunteer
Ontario Culture Days Task Force, Ms. Shoja’s primary role is to provide advice to Ontario-based communities, artists, arts groups and municipalities interested in organizing activities for Culture Days.
