The Ontario Arts Council’s (OAC) Dance Initiatives program has revised the maximum grant amounts in the program’s four categories. The increase for the Production and Presenting categories reflects the rising costs associated with venues, dancers’ fees and promotion.
Creation: new maximum $5,000
· Supports the initial exploration and development of a dance work including dance work for youth, choreographic development for dance video/film projects or commissions/acquisitions of dance work by Ontario resident, professional choreographers.
Production: new maximum $15,000
· Supports the creation and production of dance work(s) or the re-mounting of work for engagements produced by a local, national and/or international arts presenter(s).
Presenting: new maximum $15,000
· Supports the production of a dance series or festival that includes the presentation of Ontario dance artists.
Dance Development: new maximum $5,000
· Supports activities and initiatives that are of significant benefit to the professional dance milieu.
The deadline for the Dance Initiatives program has been moved from March to April 3, 2006. The second deadline remains October 2, 2006.
