Toronto, February 23, 2000 -- On February 25th the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) will host a day-long Arts and Education Forum for artists, educators and students at Ottawa's City Hall, 111 Sussex Drive, Ottawa.
Jim Watson, Mayor of the City of Ottawa, will join OAC in welcoming the forum participants. Keynote speakers include Roch Carrier, author, educator and National Librarian, National Library of Canada; Peter Herndorff, Director General and CEO, National Arts Centre; and Sandy Foote, Vice-President, Sierra Systems Consulting Inc.
"Every year, more than 500,000 young people in Ontario's education system have direct contact with a professional artist funded by OAC's Arts Education programs," explains Steven Campbell, OAC's Director of Arts in the Community and Arts Education. "This conference is about strengthening and supporting the partnerships between artists and educators so that students can get the most from their arts education programs."
Throughout the day, workshops will allow educators, artists and students, to learn from each other.
The Ontario Arts Council has partnered with MASC Artists for Schools and Communities and with Catalyst, Eastern Ontario's Performing Arts Education Network to host Arts and Education Forum 2000.
