Completing Your Application
OAC has streamlined its granting processes to cut costs and to channel the largest percentage of its budget into grants for the arts community.
While application procedures vary from program to program, there are some general policies which are in place to make sure that all applications are treated fairly, consistently and efficiently.
Complete the application form
Applications may be filled out in English or French. Leave plenty of time to fill out the application form. If you have any questions about the application process or form or need instructions clarified, contact OAC's Arts Services Department.
Make sure that your application is complete. Provide the necessary information and support material with your application. If you do not submit all of the information required on, or with, your application, it will be returned to you by mail.
Deadline policy
Always call OAC to confirm the deadline date in advance. All applications postmarked by Canada Post or a courier company no later than the deadline date will be accepted. Applications may also be hand-delivered to OAC offices on the 5th floor of 151 Bloor Street West, Toronto. After 5 pm on deadline day, applicants may leave their application packages with building security until 8 pm. Applications must be complete (photocopied and collated) before they are dropped off. If a deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, it moves to the next business day.
We are unable to accept faxed or emailed copies of applications. Late applications will be returned to you by mail.
Provide multiple copies of your application
The application form will tell you how many copies of your application to submit. Multiple copies are necessary for distribution to jury/advisory panel members. Confirm the number of copies you are required to submit with your application from the most up-to-date program information or with the appropriate program staff.
After You Apply
Jury/advisory panel results will be sent to you by mail approximately three to five months after the deadline. We are unable to provide you with jury results or the names of jurors over the telephone.
Audio/visual support materials will be returned to you by mail after the jury/advisory panel has met. Due care will be taken in returning your material to you, however, we are unable to insure the material or take responsibility for its loss or damage. We also cannot make arrangements for you to pick up your materials. Your material will arrive in one envelope with the notification of grant decision, and your cheque if you were successful.
