The Leafs Fund
The Ontario Arts Foundation partnered with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) from 2003-2011 for the Leafs Dreams Arts Scholarship Program, which paid out over$1,000,000 in scholarships during the course of the program. The program was intended to help students with a special ability in the arts who lacked the resources to pursue that interest. Over the course of the program, over 200students received scholarships and attended arts instruction programs all over Toronto. Proceeds from 50/50 draws held at the Toronto Maple Leafs home games supported the program scholarships.
In an effort to continue to provide financial assistance to students in the arts, the Leafs Fund was established with a generous contribution from MLSE. The fund will offer grants to arts organizations in Toronto to be used toward their bursary programs to help students in need of financial assistance attend their programs.
